I would like to introduce you to PHLOA. PHLOA is a helper in a mechanical sense. PHLOA moves liquid. The liquid is moved by air pressure. Compressed air is stored in the frame/handle at a constant pressure of 100 to 130 psi and this pressure is regulated into one or two 5 gallon stainless steel tanks. Liquids contained in the tanks are then pushed through a hose. Attach the appropriate spray gun for the job, and the regulated pressure will allow for a consistent rate of application. The disbursement rate is regulated by the pressure selected.
This simple system is housed in a polyurethane body that measures 26” across and 34” long.
The air pressure is regulated from 5 lbs to 90 lbs per square inch (based on tank capacity), and the flow rate is maintained constant. This is accomplished by a small 12 volt battery and 12 volt air-compressor that fills a cylinder with air-pressure up to 130 pounds per square inch. This air is then metered into the disbursement tanks at the desired pressure, and the air pushes the liquid out of the tank. The tanks can be used separately or in combination, use different materials, one hose or two, you build it or modify it to your specifications. Customize it for your purpose. Using PHLOA for pest control and using a JD-9 nozzle on pin stream increase the pressure to 40 lbs and it will shoot the eaves on a 2-story house with ease, and even the 3rd floor.
PHLOA is made to last, the frame is the handle and the pressure vessel, and it is 100% stainless steel with the capacity to contain up to 1,600 lbs per square inch. The small pump is only capable of pressurizing the pressure vessel to 130 psi. In all there is the frame, the body and wheels, a 12 volt battery, 12 volt air compressor, a few connections/hoses, and two stainless steel tanks. All the structural components of PHLOA are stainless steel or heavy gauge polyurethane plastic. The connections, pump and battery will need to be replaced over time, but the framework and body will last for many years if carefully maintained. The pump and battery together weigh less than 10 lbs, and are together on a small tote contained in a compartment between the handle upright. The tote can be easily disconnected from PHLOA, so it can be taken inside at night if you choose and the battery recharged. The air compressor is rated for 500 run hours, and we found that it will likely run under normal pest control use about 45 minutes per day. So assuming 22 work days per month and 12 months (264 work days per year) the compressor pump (4.8 lbs) should log about 119 hours per year; so the useful life should be about 4 years. The battery is lithium, iron phosphate (3.7lbs) can be recharged in 2-4 hours from dead, and specs indicate it can be recharged about 2,000 times. In our test the battery is operated until dead about 1 hour a day actual run time; so the battery should last about 5.5 years under normal use. A single charge of the battery will pressurize the 2.4 gallon handle/frame about 8 times in a day, which is accomplished if empty in about 5 minutes. The remainder of the operating time is to maintain the pressure. A fully compressed handle/frame will empty a 5 gallon tank at 35 psi with plenty of remaining pressure; so even if you charge the handle/frame and turn the pump off and then spray the contents of the tank at 35 PSI, there will be no degradation of pressure even to the lat drop. So if you are servicing a hospital where you want to noise, load the tank and pressurize the handle in an area where a little noise is not an issue. Then turn the system off and you can disperse 5 gallons of material without the pump ever cycling on. Preform this 8 times in a day on a single battery charge, and you can spray the equivalent of a 1 gallon pump up tanks (exhausting) 40 times. If you are bug killing machine and need more than 40 gallons, purchase an extra battery and keep one recharging and you never need to stop.Add quick disconnects and switch out tanks in seconds. No fluid ever goes through the pump, so there is nothing to clean except the tanks, hose, and spray guns. Additionally, PHLOA may be used for pest control during the day, and for tailgating in the evening - simply by switching the tanks and loading one with your favorite beverage (ice in the cart). For the weekend, take it camping and use for running water, or a portable shower. Wine is now being shipped in kegs, and PHLOA could be used as a portable tap at resorts or parties. Use PHLOA to de-ice your small aircraft. It can also be used to paint, or stain a deck very quickly! Got a flat tire, PHLOA can help with that too! Need to drill holes or use small pneumatic tools, PHLOA can power these too! The potential uses are only limited by the imagination.
This small cart holds two 5 gallon stainless steel tanks, and there is room for transporting rat bait or other equipment. The wheels measure 16” and there is a second smaller set of wheels for rolling like a cart on hard surfaces. The large wheels make it easy to pull the cart over curbs, up a short flight of stairs, or over rough terrain. Hills are no problem, the cart is configured like a hand truck so stand it up and it will not move. It is narrow enough at 26 inches to fit through most standard 30 inch wide doors. You decide how much hose is enough, we use 30 feet of ¼ inch inside diameter reinforced hose which seems more than adequate for most applications.
